A cookie is a small file, typically of letters and numbers, downloaded / stored locally on a user's computer, mobile or other internet-connected devices when the user accesses a website or application.

In and of themselves, cookies are harmless and serve crucial functions for websites. Cookies can also generally be easily viewed and deleted. However, cookies can store a wealth of data, enough to potentially identify you without your consent.
Cookies are useful because they allow a website or an application to recognize a user’s device / distinguishing users. They are used for a wide variety of purposes such as website analytics – counting visitors and their behavior, targeted advertising, recording user preferences, for authentication or security of Sites.
Cookies allow your browser / application to remember some specific information which can later be retrieved and used. When you quit your browser / application, some cookies are stored in your computer’s or device’s memory, while some expire or disappear.
Any browser visiting our Sites may receive cookies from us or from third parties such as our partners, or service providers. Third-party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website or service you are using (such as advertising, interactive content, and analytics).
A “web beacon”, also known as an internet tag, pixel tag or clear GIF, links web pages to web servers and may be used to transmit information collected through cookies back to a web server / application. We refer to all of these and similar technologies as “cookies” for purposes of this Policy.
We use cookies to: (i) enhance functionality, customize, personalize and improve user experience; (ii) deliver content tailored to user interests and relevant online advertising; and (iii) perform analytics and manage our Sites and other aspects of our business.
The information we obtain / may obtain through cookies includes your traffic data, location, logs, device IP address, identifiers associated with your devices, types of devices connected to our services, operating system, network location, browser type, web browser characteristics, device characteristics, language and country preferences, referring URLS, exit pages, clickstream data and other information on actions taken on our Sites, error information, and dates and times of website visits, language your system uses and country and time zone in which your device is located.

They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the Sites. Analytic cookies collect information about your device type, operating system, browser, domain, other system settings, IP address, referring URLs, information on actions taken on the Sites and the dates and times of your visits, country and time zone in which your device is located etc. All the information collected by these cookies is aggregated and therefore anonymous. Everstone Group shall make use of the below while seeking cookie preference: • Block all the cookies before obtaining consent / preference, except the essential / strictly necessary cookies.
• The cookie banner text to explain to users why data is collected, what is collected, with whom it is shared etc or provide a link to the privacy policy where they can read all the information.
• Explicit cookie consent / preference to be sought from users, eg by way of a ‘cookie preference’ tab. Consent should not be implied, do not assume that browsing the website by a user means consent.
• The ‘cookie preference’ tab must allow users to take affirmative action for giving cookie consent and / or decline cookies. Do provide a toggle switch so that users can activate or deactivate cookies as per their choice.
• Website content should not be protected with a cookie wall. A Cookie wall is a pop-up on the website that asks users to accept or deny website tracking and cookies, but if the user chooses not to consent, it limits or blocks their access to the website. Cookie walls don't give users the option to customize any of the data collection. Users should be able to access website / services even if they refuse to allow the use of certain cookies.
• The cookie consent / preference should not be bundled with Terms and Conditions.
• The checkboxes, toggles, or other mechanisms for giving consent for each specific purpose must be “set off” by default, and the user should be allowed to check them out or turn them on to give consent through affirmative action i.e. those should not be pre checked while seeking consent.
• Keep records of all the consent responses.
• Allow users to withdraw consent without a hassle, as easily as they had given it.
